From Lisbon (~120 km)
By car — ~1h30
Straight up the A8 toll motorway. The most flexible option if you want to chase swell windows, add Óbidos or Peniche, or stay for sunset.
By bus — €11, ~2h
Rede Expressos runs ~10 buses a day from Lisbon's Sete Rios terminal direct to Nazaré. Cheapest and easiest for solo travellers. Book a day ahead online.
By train — ~2h30 (with transfer)
There is no direct train to Nazaré. CP trains run from Lisbon Santa Apolónia / Oriente to Valado dos Frades (the closest station, ~5 km away), then a short taxi or local bus into town. Slower than the bus — most travellers skip the train.
Private transfer — ~€130 one-way
Door-to-door from Lisbon airport. Worth it for groups of 3–4 or late arrivals when the bus station is closed.
From Porto (~200 km)
By car — ~2h15
South on the A1 then west on the A8. Easy drive, mostly motorway. Pair with a stop in Coimbra or Aveiro on the way down.
By bus — €17–22, ~3h30
Rede Expressos runs a few daily services from Porto Campanhã to Nazaré, usually with a change in Leiria. Book online in advance for the best price.
By train — ~3h30 (with transfer)
CP intercity to Valado dos Frades via Coimbra, then taxi into Nazaré. Doable but the bus is simpler.
Airports
Lisbon (LIS) is by far the most common arrival point — closest to Nazaré and with the most international connections. Porto (OPO) works if you're already in the north. There is no airport in Nazaré itself.
