The town beach — Praia da Nazaré — has gentle, beginner-friendly waves most of the year. Praia do Norte also offers smaller, manageable waves when there's no big-wave forecast.
Lessons run year-round but the warmest, most consistent beginner conditions are May–October. Expect to pay €30–€40 for a 2-hour group lesson including board and wetsuit. On flat days at Praia do Norte, you can also find gentler waves suitable for intermediates.
